TAIPEI EAST POWER Announces the Signing of Japanese Setter ONODERA Hayato, Reuniting Him with KAO Wei-Cheng
TAIPEI EAST POWER Professional Volleyball Club announced today, the 13th, that Japanese setter ONODERA Hayato has officially joined the team. He will wear the TAIPEI EAST POWER uniform in the new season, strengthening the team at setter and bringing more stable tactical organization and on-court tempo.
ONODERA Hayato, 25, stands 177 cm tall and weighs 75 kg. He previously played for Saitama Azalea of Japan's men's V.LEAGUE. Over the past two seasons he has been the team's first-choice setter, playing a key role in organizing the attack and controlling tempo while showing steady on-court judgment and the ability to execute tactics.
It is worth noting that ONODERA played alongside TAIPEI EAST POWER outside hitter KAO Wei-Cheng at Saitama Azalea in the 2023-24 season. KAO Wei-Cheng won the scoring title in Japan's V2 league that year, while ONODERA was one of the key drivers of the team's attacking system, and the two built strong chemistry on court. Their reunion at TAIPEI EAST POWER makes the team's attacking combinations in the new season all the more exciting.
The TAIPEI EAST POWER club said, "ONODERA is a setter with professional league experience, a fine ability to read the game, and leadership qualities on court. We believe his arrival will help the team build a steadier attacking tempo and raise the quality of our tactical execution overall."
Ahead of the new season, ONODERA Hayato also sent a message to the fans: "Hello to all East Power fans, I am ONODERA Hayato. I am really looking forward to fighting alongside you all this season! I will give everything I have with the championship as my goal, and I hope you will keep supporting us. Let's work hard together!"
With ONODERA Hayato officially on board, TAIPEI EAST POWER will gain further tactical options and flexibility at setter, and the team looks forward to this fine setter from Japan's V.LEAGUE bringing new energy and new possibilities to the season ahead.
